2014 Jeep Wrangler JK

Jeep’s 2014 Wrangler is one of the few compact SUVs that comes standard with four wheel drive. It is also one of the most versatile, with two and four-door Unlimited models, plus the option to remove the roof, doors, and even the windshield. Each body style comes in three trim levels: Sport, Sahara and Rubicon. The Rubicon is the most trail ready with added features including a new front axle and an electronic sway-bar disconnect. With few changes from the previous model year, the 2014 Jeep Wrangler JK comes standard with a 3.6L V6 engine capable of 285 horsepower and 260lbs-ft of torque, as well as a six-speed manual transmission with hill assist. When properly equipped, a Wrangler Unlimited’s max tow capacity is 3,500lbs, while two-door models can manage up to 2,000lbs.

Protect Your Valuables

One of the frequent drawbacks of a convertible SUV like the Wrangler is its soft top leaves it vulnerable to thieves. While you might see the optional hardtop recommended as a must-buy, there are other ways to keep your valuables safe and secure when you’re out in your soft top, particularly if you’ve already maxed out your center console and glove box. One secure interior storage solution are underseat lock boxes or drawers. These are particularly helpful in securing smaller items as they mount underneath and directly to either the passenger or driver’s seats. Remaining hidden out of sight, lock boxes are also often called under seat drawers as they will typically feature a handle at the front and a slide out drawer design for accessibility. Two keys are included, and some models will come with an additional mount at the back to bolt to the floor. Regardless of the model, these lockboxes cannot be easily removed from your Jeep once installed.

Protect Your Passengers

While most other vehicles feature an aluminium unibody design that protects passengers during a rollover, a Jeep’s design includes sports bars made from tubular steel bars. They provide similar protection during rollovers, while also providing the structural integrity needed for the Jeep’s unique design and customizability. Particularly if the roof and doors are removed, a Jeep without a sports bar would suffer from frame instability and excessive flex during cornering. It is very important to note though that the factory sports bar is really only designed to provide protection during low-speed rollovers, so if you’re frequently cruising around without your top and/or doors, or are out on the trails fairly regularly, those factory bars may not hold up in a worst case scenario. For better all round protection, consider an aftermarket roll cage. A cage is usually a bolt-on system of additional strong tubular steel bars that join together with a unique ‘knuckle system’. These extra bars will reinforce the weak areas of the factory bar, such as the front windshield, while also improving the overall rigidity of the Wrangler itself. The added reinforcement and extra protection offered by a roll cage keeps the sports bar from collapsing, and some models can also include thick foam pads to prevent injury in the event of striking a bar upon impact.

Protect Your Paint Job

If you don’t want to spend hours buffing out any pin-striping from driving down narrow trails, then slap on magnetic body armorto keep your Wrangler’s body looking pristine. A magnetic panel body kit uses magnetic force to attach to your JK’s body and stay in place even under the most extreme off-roading conditions. While the actual styling of kits can vary - from basic black, to camo and the red-white-and-blue -- they are made from durable magnetic steel material and wrapped heavy-duty multi-layer cast vinyl. Panel kits can include up to sixteen pieces, each specifically cut to be an exact match for the Wrangler’s body, with cutouts for handles, locks, door hinges and even the antenna. Install will take up to 15 minutes depending on the size of the kit, and removal shouldn’t take much longer.
