In this video, we’re looking specifically at the three they make for the JK Wranglers ( 2-door / 4-door).These are all based on the 2.2 design. Here, 2.2 stands for the larger diameter of the stabilizer body; 2.2 inches.Rough Country makes a standard steering stabilizer that’s basically a direct replacement. Meaning, if your vehicle is stock (no lift), then you can still use one of their stabilizers and upgrade your ride. You still get a stabilizer with a larger diameter body (which houses more fluid to keep it cool), and a bracket kit. The bracket helps you mount the stabilizer because it’s thicker (and better of course) than the stock one. It will bolt to the factory location, and bolts right in.You can also use the Rough Country Steering Stabilizer kit that uses the same stabilizer as previously mentioned, but it relocates it from the stock location, to mounting it above the tire rod. This keeps it up higher for more ground clearance, and it’s less likely to get damaged than if it was hanging underneath. This Rough Country kit also includes a small skid plate for added protection.If you do have mods done to your Jeep, and you’re running bigger tires, then you need all the help you can get. That’s where a bigger stabilizer comes in to play.Which brings us to the top dog, the Rough Country 2.2 Dual Steering Stabilizers.These kits use similar brackets so that you can mount them above the tie rod, out of harm’s way. The dual systems give you the most dampening for your Jeep.If you already have the single Rough Country Steering Stabilizer (that installs the stabilizer above the tie rod), then you can upgrade it by using a Rough Country kit. The kit allows you to use the parts you already have installed, and just adds the second stabilizer to have the full dual setup. Saving you money.Tips for choosing the right stabilizer for your JK Jeep:If you’re running up to a 35 inch tire, and you’re not doing any off-roading, the drop-in steering stabilizer would be the way to go.If you’re going to be doing some wheeling, you want to go with the kit that relocates the steering stabilize above the tie rod. It will be one less thing hanging underneath that you have to worry about, plus you have a better steering stabilizer than the stock one. This will work fine up to 35 inch tires.If you have 37 inch or higher tires, then you will definitely want to step up to the Rough Country Dual Steering Stabilizer. It will give the best dampening with those huge, heavy tires. If you’re on the road driving and you hit a pot hole, these will help you keep control of your vehicle. You want to stay safe and stabile.The Rough Country Steering Stabilizers shown are all bolt-on kits. They include all the parts you need, from brackets to bolts. They can be installed with simple hand tools.Just as an important note we want to mention that if you have a Death Wobble, you don’t need to look at steering stabilizers. They will not cure the problem. You should always seek out a good Jeep or 4x4 mechanic who can visually inspect your Jeep, because it will have larger issues than just a bad steering stabilizer.
