All Terrain Tires for Jeeps & Trucks

All Terrain Tires for Jeeps & Trucks

The Difference Between All-Terrain Tires, Mud Terrain Tires, and All-Season Tires

When it comes to buying new tires, SUV drivers need to choose between three styles: all-terrain, mud terrain tires, and all-season tires. All-terrain tires are the most popular, because they’re the most versatile. They offer deep tread that’s great for off-roading, giving you tons of traction anytime you head off on an outdoor adventure. But all-terrain tires are also able to ensure that your ride is smooth and quiet when you’re driving around town or on the freeway. Mud terrain tires have even more extreme tread, making them the perfect off-road tire. But that comes at the cost of city drivability, as mud terrain tires can be loud and bumpy at high speeds on the tarmac. And all-season tires are great for any city driver who occasionally travels off the beaten path, but not a good choice for an off-road enthusiast.

Are Bigger Off-Road All-Terrain Tires Always Better?

When it comes to off-roading, bigger is often better. Bigger tires will have an easier time crawling over obstacles in the road, and will help your off-road vehicle maintain balance when traversing uneven surfaces. You’ll have increased traction, making it easier to drive on slippery or wet trails. But it is important to not buy tires that are bigger than your SUV is designed for, otherwise you’ll sacrifice a lot of performance.

Should You Replace All Your Tires at the Same Time?

We always recommend that drivers replace all four tires at the same time, whenever possible. This ensures that all of your tires have a similar amount of tread and wear and tear at all times, which will make for a smoother ride. That said, it’s fine to just replace the front tires or the rear tires, instead of all four. Your SUV will still run very well. But whenever possible, replace all four tires together.
