They are the initials of the founder of the company, Peter Kim Brown, and his wife, Carol Brown. The company was started in their home garage, back in the late 1960s. Peter worked with computers on a night shift and began “inventing” his famous lights at home during the day.
Spreading the word about his lights, Peter and Carol began showing up at camping events, off-road events, anywhere there might be an interest in their lights. They also advertised in publications that tailored to those groups of enthusiasts. Soon they were hiring some of their neighbors to help assemble and produce enough lamps in their garage to meet the demand.
By the time 1974 came around, the lights were selling so fast, they had to move production to Williams Arizona (where the original factory still stands today). Peter soon had to quit his night job and focus full time on his lighting products and helping Customers.
