Specs. Adding a lift kit to your Jeep Wrangler frees up more space under the vehicle for better ground clearance and big, terrain-conquering aftermarket tires. However, the slip yoke becomes problematic, and can cause vibrations or even crack the 231-J transfer case because of changes in the driveshaft angle. This Teraflex Extreme Short Shaft Kit fixes these problems in style, giving you 7 extra inches of driveshaft while being 3 inches shorter than standard SYE kits.
Quality Construction. Teraflex offers a standard limited lifetime warranty on most of its products, and this high quality Extreme Short Shaft Kit is no exception. Made out of high quality materials, this kit enables replacing the slip yoke with a fixed yoke, extending the driveshaft by 7 inches and taking up 3 inches less space than the standard SYE (slip yoke eliminator) kit. All the components needed to modify a 231-J T-case are included. Earlier Jeep models that use a mechanical speedometer cable must be upgraded to an electronic speedometer (sold separately) to use this Short Shaft Kit.
Application. This Teraflex NP231 Extreme Short Shaft Kit is designed to be used on 1997-2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ models.

FIT GREAT
Product was just as advertised. Installation was not too difficult. Need mechanical knowledge but with experience it was not too difficult

heavy duty
Super short for extra driveshaft length. Main shaft is beefy. Has a down pin to hold the reluctor wheel in place which I have read other reviews that do not have the dowel pin the reluctor wheel can wobble causing erratic speedometer readings.

Great SYE
Allows a shallower angle between your transfer case and your diff.

Exactly what I needed
This extreme short SYE kit was a breeze to install. It also came with good instructions and does exactly what it says. It was about 3in or so shorter than my standard SYE. This kit was needed for my 1997 wrangler after installing a tummy tuck skid plate to be able to use my current CV rear driveshaft (with the tummy tuck, my CV shaft was too long fully compressed) This kit is also nice for Jeeps with a lot of lift( 6in) because it helps with driveline angles even with the CV. A traditional CV shaft may not work (one made for a standard SYE) and a different length or custom shaft may be needed. Also note, it you have a older Jeep like my 1997, the speedo is no longer a gear in this kit and you will also need a harness and connector of sorts to make the speedo work. Mine is a trail rig so I did not worry about it

Extreme short shaft kit
My only complaint is that the Install instructions could be more detailed. Product seems great. I have installed it but have months to go before Jeep will be on/off the road

Best Bang for the Buck
Installed a early version of this kit in 2009 and have had no trouble with it since. Was a little difficult dropping transfer-case and reinstalling it, the rest was pretty straight forward. In 2014 I installed a flanged yoke so I could run a 1350 cv drive shaft and transfer-case park brake never had to crack the case, just change the fluids with good quality synthetic. Ive run this combo thru all types of terrain and beat on them without mercy, always gets me home.
