Description
Bushwhack. The Smittybilt XL Overlander Tent offers an innovative and safe camping solution that adds another dimension to your off-road adventure experience. This XL tent allows drivers to have all the convenience of a safe and secure homestead setup without the loss of that traditional camping bushwhack.
Accommodating Dimensions. The Overlander Rooftop Tent comes in signature coyote tan color and carries a 122” W x 76” x 51”H assembled tent dimension. It comes with a comfortable mattress with a 92.5” W x 74.8” L size that can accommodate up to 4 people.
Waterproof Construction. Manufactured from heavy-duty 600D rip stop waterproof polyester that includes sunroof and side windows, the tent also utilizes anodized aluminum frame poles with stainless steel hinges for a safe and lasting assembly. Other features include mosquito screens, a lightweight rain fly, LED strip interior light, telescoping aluminum ladder for easy rooftop access and a Velcro travel bag.
Installation. This extra-large rooftop tent follows a universal installation via dual aluminum tracks using U-clamps that are included for an easy and fast assembly.
Warranty. Smittybilt offers a one-year limited warranty for this tent against all manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship.
Application. The Smittybilt XL Overlander Tent is designed to fit all 1966-2023 Jeep CJ and Wrangler models.

Smittybilt Overland XL Roof Top Tent
Purchased along with the Annex a couple of years ago and built a light weight trailer for it. Works out great and tow's easy behind my TJ or JKU. Is very comfortable and so far very well constructed. Sets up fairly quickly. Plenty of ventilation for cross breeze and a very good rain fly.

Good value
The tent materials are good quality. Design is pretty good. The window tension rod holes could be manufactured a little better...possibly counter sink the holes a little or something. It is easy to booger up the aluminum holes, if you aren't careful, and I've read about others having issues with the holes being cleanly drilled. The mattress needs an added foam pad, but then it is very comfortable. The foam pad makes it more difficult to close and strap, so we use ratchet straps to close it. We are able to sleep a family of five: two adults and three youngsters. Overall, the tent is the best for the money.

The tent is simply awesome. Easy setup and take down. Very spacious and great air flow. Looking forward to many years of off the path camping. I would have given this five stars except for two issues: For an expensive tent, the setup and installation instructions are poor. The instructions are a cheap, black and white photocopy. The images are poor and difficult to understand. The instructions are incomplete. The second issue is that the ladder should have multiple adjustment holes predrilled by the manufacturer.

I am very satisfied with this purchase. Definitely the best choice for me. My son and I are building an overland trailer and this tent works perfectly for the setup we have. There are no regrets with the purchase, it is very well built and sets up easily. I can't wait to use it on the long trips we have planned.

An awesome tent with no real compromise.
I received this tent today via truck freight, and it arrived in perfect shape on a pallet. Got it all set up on my Front Runner Slimline Rack. First impression is that this thing is HUGE!!!! The quality is excellent for the price. It is very comfortable to lay in. You can spread out with two people and have plenty of room to spare. There are windows all around and plenty of ventilation if you need it. If not, everything closes up tight and it will stay nice and warm in the wind. It comes with a really nice 12v cable that is perfect to plug into an outlet in your jeep. It has a USB adapter and comes with a set of LED lights for inside which are great. It comes with 2 bags for assorted doodads it comes with and a bag that hangs from it for your shoes so you dont bring dirt inside. Nice extras. The cover is nice and thick and attaches with super strong velcro. There is nothing that will get into the tent when it's closed up and covered. There is no way it's coming off while going down the highway, regardless of the winds. There are plenty of straps to secure it and it is very strong when opened. It will support 3 or 4 people if that was the aim. The ladder is very sturdy and so is the attachment. But like I said, it is HUGE so you will need a full length rack that is strong to support it. I think it weighs about 140-150 lbs by itself. I don't think this will fit on a 2 door. It's too big, and it will only open to the side, not the rear. It's too wide to open toward the rear. The mattress is nice inside, but I plan on adding something like a memory foam or dense mat underneath it. All of them only feel firm for a while so plan on upgrading that. No big deal. I am extremely pleased with this and I challenge you to find a better deal for the same price...shipped for free to your door even. You'll pay more than twice the price. The quality of this tent is no worse than even the much more expensive units, and they don't even include anything with them! If you have a JKU and a good rack, I highly recommend this one.
