Construction. The Smittybilt security stereo floor console is a quality addition to any 1976-1995 Jeep CJ5, CJ7 and Wrangler YJ Models. Constructed out of 16 gauge steel, the console offers good security for items locked inside. An armrest pad is mounted on top of the main security compartment lid. This pad is comfortably thick and is covered in denim, which is sturdy and long-wearing while offering a pleasant texture. A lockable stereo compartment is located forward of the security compartment, and a dual cup holder occupies the console's front end.

Specs. The Smittybilt console is a steel console measuring 15 inches tall by 9 inches wide by 27 inches long. It features two lockable compartments. The rearmost of these is a general purpose security compartment, while the forward one is designed to accommodate a stereo, CD player, or a CB radio. If a stereo is added to this space, a third-party antenna extension wire is also needed. The console's top features a thick, comfortable, Charcoal Gray denim-wrapped armrest. A dual cup holder is found at the console's front, and is adjustable to hold a variety of cups, glasses, and other beverage containers.

Application. This console fits between the front seats of a Jeep Wrangler, just behind the gearshift boot. Fitment occurs by marking the location of the 3 attachment holes with chalk, cutting away small sections of carpet, and drilling through the Jeep's floor to make holes to receive the 5/16 inch mounting bolts. Before final placement is carried out, a stereo or CD player is usually inserted in the second locking compartment and fastened in place with a support strap. The stereo wires are attached and a required third-party antenna extension wire is fitted. Finally, the console is bolted firmly into place. This part fits all 1976-1995 Jeep CJ5, CJ7 and Wrangler YJ Models.
