How to Install SkyJacker Silver 9000 Replacement Steering Stabilizer Cylinder (87-06 Wrangler YJ & TJ) on your Jeep Wrangler

  • 18mm Socket
  • 3/4" Open End Wrench
  • 3/4" Socket
  • 16mm Socket
  • WD-40
  • Hammer
  • Flush Cutters

This item was the replacement stabilizer only. It does not come with the crush sleeve required for the frame mount side. 

1. Before 


2. What comes with the SkyJacker Silver 9000 Replacement Steering Stabilizer Cylinder.


3. Remove the 18mm nut from the draglink side of the existing steering stabilizer. 


4. Remove the frame mount side of the factory steering stabilizer. Using a 15mm open end wrench and 18mm socket.


5. To access the bolt you may have to turn the wheel. To make the drag link and tie rod move. 


6. Everything removed. 


7. Insert the provided bushings into the ends of the SkyJacker Silver 9000 Replacement Steering Stabilizer. May require WD-40 or lubricant. A socket and hammer can be used to push the bushing in also. 



8. Slide the provided rubber boot over the piston arm end and use the provided zip tie. 


9. The crush sleeve from the factory steering stabilizer will need to be removed. Or a new one will need to be purchased. 


10. Install the crush sleeve into the end that will be mounted on the frame side. 


11. Reinstall the factory hardware on the frame side Using a 15mm open end wrench and 18mm socket.


12. Slide the bushing onto the drag link stud. Reinstall the 18mm nut.


13. Complete
