Description
Function. There is much to appreciate about the Rugged Ridge XHD reclining front seat. This seat offers a unique technology that allows you to replace your current seat without buying expensive add-on adaptors. This patent-pending technology is one of the very first major seating upgrades in over 30 years. Specific components of the seat were also upgraded to ensure this is one of the most durable seats you will find on the market.
Properties. Though this seat may look similar to older XHD seats, it is actually an upgrade. This is the low cost seat replacement that is easy on your wallet while being easy on your back and neck too. This is due to the firm padding and supportive foam. The style is exactly like original factory seats, with the horizontal stitching you are familiar with. Riders can sit back and relax, thanks to the infinite recline mechanism.
Application. This seat fits 1997 - 2006 Wrangler, Rubicon, and Unlimited TJs without the need for an adaptor add-on.

Don't waste your time
Just don't do it. This company should be ashamed of itself. Nothing works like they say it does and they come with cheap Chinese directions. I am a pretty level headed guy but if they don't give me my money back I will never do business with Extreme again. Pitiful

Not impressed
I bought these seats because they are a direct bolt in... although that is true and the material seems to be of descent quality and not bad looking seat, the rod that sticks out for the reclining adjustment gouges into my center console and the seats are very narrow and uncomfortable if you have to spend much time in them, I have had them in my jeep for enough time that I had hoped that would improve but no such luck... I will spend the extra money for a closer to stock width seat even if I have to buy brackets to make them fit next time.. 97 Wrangler TJ...

Nice but seam are ripping
I bought two of these for my 05 LJ and really like the firmness and the way it cradles my body. The drivers seat seam at the side bolster ripped. Contacted Rugged Ridge and finally got a replacement free of charge. Now the passenger seat which my sits in is starting to go in the same spot. Sent in a request for replacement but have not heard anything. Do like the fact these will the make forward. Not as much as the stock seats but still better than no tumble.

Nice seats but reclining is awkward
Nice seats but the knob that is used to adjust the reclined position is very tight and hard to move. A lever would have been much easier. Material is very nice also.

Rugged Ridge XHD Front Seat
If you don't mind having to do some modifications to make this seat fit correctly, It can work, but otherwise I wouldn't waste money on this product. I had to cut the through shaft for the reclining knobs and eliminate the use of the internal knob in order for the seats to fit. Cutting that shaft voided any opportunity to return the product. I also had to modify the seat belt receiver. While Rugged Ridge claims that it doesn't have to be removed in the installation of the seat, it certainly needs to be reshaped in order to fit accurately. Also, I ordered the tumble kit to make the passenger tumble seat work but it was for years 2003 through 2006 and couldn't be used on my 1997 TJ. So, I no longer have the tumble feature for that seat. At least I can return this kit. Turning a knob to recline the seat is not my idea of and efficiently designed product. Very cumbersome to recline! I'm not entirely certain I like the seat for comfort. It is very narrow. Just not sure the comfort will be there. And, the seats are too new to really know how they will standup from a quality perspective. Also, the color is more of a tan than a gray so it doesn't match well with the gray interior. I'll make use of these seats for a couple years since I've already made the investment and through modification, ruined any chance of doing a return, but first chance I find something I prefer that might be closer to OEM, I'll be replacing these seats.

This seat is extremely uncomfortable . It is like setting on a board with two 2x4s on the sides . Not even close to the original seat .

Rugged Ridge seat
It is very small but does fit my wife. The reclining knobs are plastic and just push on don’t think they will last long. Was able to modify the fold cable on the original mount to still work. It was easy to install.

97-02 TJ will need additional bracket
97-02 TJ owners will need additional bracket, part number 51256. If your ordering on your phone like I did, this information is not in the main features on the mobile page, you have to open the description menu to see it. The brackets are about $80 per seat and extreme terrain doesn't sell them, you will have to purchase from another vendor. This information should have been clearly on the main item description. I only have 3 stars because the seats are pretty stiff and quite narrow, doesn't bother me but if you're a big guy you may not like it. At this price point I think they are good seats.

A: Hello, this seat does come with a Infinite Recline Mechanism, so yes you would be able to move to access the back seats.
