Brand | Rugged Ridge |
Side Mirror Mounting Location | A-Pillar Mount |
Key Features. When the weather's warm it's just plain nice to ride around in your Jeep with the doors off. This presents a unique problem, because the stock mirrors are attached to the doors, and that's where these Rugged Ridge Mirror Relocation Brackets become incredibly useful. They make relocating the OE side mirrors a breeze, placing them on the winshield hinges where they're still quite functional. This setup works with full or half door mirrors. The solid construction ensures the mirrors stay stable at any speed. Installation is fairly simple.
Construction. Stainless steel is great since it resists corrosion, is strong and withstands the test of time. In other words, you can count on these brackets to last for years, no matter what kind of torture you put your rig through. Each bracket fits flush against the windshield frame, making it look more like a stock setup than an aftermarket solution. The included mounting hardware is up to OE standards, so you can rely on it as well.
Installation. Since Rugged Ridge designed this kit to use the winshield hinge bolt holes, you don't need to drill anywhere or make other modfiications to your vehicle. You will need a socket wrench and other basic tools to get the job done. The process is fairly direct and simple, but plan on it taking you about an hour to complete. Once the brackets are in place, you'll then need to transfer the mirror assemblies themselves.
Application. Rugged Ridge has made these Mirror Relocation Brackets so they work with 1987-1995 Jeep Wranglers.

Perfect for me
Did a lot of research before buying these. I really wanted a way to keep my factory mirrors on the Jeep year round, doors on or off. I looked at the aftermarket mirrors long and hard, but I really wanted the mirrors to look symmetric. Many reviews on this product had complaints about the Pass side mirror being impossible to see. It is an obstructed view, but when I take the doors off for the summer, I can adjust the arm angle further back and see it just fine. As for the product itself, well made, good paint, and the holes line up. Have fun reaching/getting a wrench on the windshield backside nuts. Whole thing took me :45

Makes you legal
A little tuff to reach nuts on the driver side , if you have big hands. Other than that easy install. Passenger side mirror is barely useable, but need it to be legal without doors

Sturdy Solution that takes some time
sturdy product compared to other door off mirrors. In order access the hinge nuts the dash needs to be removed. installation is a little more than just bolting up the adapters. the only issue is see, and its only cosmetic, is the adapters weld splatter on them from manufacturing.

Mirror bracket review
Brackets are great, installed and functional. 2 things to know though. 1) The torx bolts on the windshield hinges on my 1994 Wrangler do not (apparently) have captive nuts. I had to practically remove the dash... a lot of disassembly in order to get a wrench on them to remove and reinstall, and 2) The mirrors are now more forward than they were with the doors on. The right side mirror is barely useful. I am considering fabricating an extension for the bracket to extend the mirror back so it's in the line of sight. Rugged Ridge could do that too...surprised not accounted for,,,,I didn't rush the install, but it took a while.

Mirror brackets
Brackets were as advertised. Mounted no problem. Took longer for install than plan simply because the windshield hinge bolts had never been removed. The nuts on the back side of the bolts were still covered with factory spray. Once that was removed, no problem.

Not As Easy As I Hoped
The install instructions make it sound very easy, and they look very easy to put on. The bolts that you put them on with are extremely hard to get off. So if you have the patience for this or want to drop the windshield, do not get these brackets. If you do then get them they look very good in the end.

Not great for older trucks
I have a 94 YJ where I tried to install the brackets... however the bolts on the inside of the truck (that you can't reach) are no longer welded to the frame so the bolts just spin. There is no way to remove the old bolts without spending a day taking the dash apart. AKA not worth the time. I ended up spending money for the mirror relocation brackets that go into the door frame slots. Might be a great buy for a new truck... but not for an older one.

Just what you need
These remove the mirrors from the doors. No need to worry about having to carry extra mirrors or having 2 sets. Passenger side needs to be pushed forward almost all the way to be seen through the windshield. Once adjusted, you have no problems seeing. I weoded mine on as none of the windshield bolts would budge. Took about an hour and 15 minutes. Get a lot of comments. Getting another set for a frend.
