(1)The Rugged Ridge Front Eclipse Sun Shade in black is for those of you with a four-door 2018 and up JL that are looking for a sun shade you can install and have installed underneath your soft top, or even your hard top that's gonna be there when you need it to take a little bit of the edge off of that sun when you have your freedom panels removed, your hard top completely off the Jeep, or your soft top folding back. This is going to be a very easy one out of three wrenches for the installation and I'm going to show you how to do it in just a second.So there are going to be a lot of different sun shades out there that are going to attach in slightly different ways, and they're also going to give you some different coverage. This one as you can see is designed for the front seat passengers, but it's also designed with your freedom panels in mind, so you can snap your hard top freedom panels down right over the top of this. Or if you have a soft top, you can flip your sun-rider forward, or put your entire soft top up, again without having to completely remove this, which is a really nice feature. If you want the back section to help protect your rear seat passengers, that's available from Rugged Ridge as well.So, like I said, a lot of different configurations, a lot of different shapes to these in different ways that they attach to the Jeep. And this one is going to be a pretty nice option for you, while still being a little less expensive than some of the other ones. So this is going to use hook-and-loop fasteners, or Velcro fasteners with a plastic buckle to attach onto the Jeep, and it is going to attach pretty firmly. There are some other options out there that will have a much more robust, sometimes military spec buckle. Those ones are going to attach very firmly as well, but they can be a little bit more expensive and they're even other options out there that will use bungee cords, sometimes attached, sometimes not attached to the top itself. And those ones, not my favorite option, because eventually the bungee cords will stretch out, and the ones that aren't attached to the top, you will eventually lose one, if you're taking the top on or off the Jeep.So again, a lot of choices out there. I like the fact that this has the straps sewn on to the top, so you're not gonna lose them. And there's a little bit of additional material in the back here. I feel like they could have shaped it just a little bit better in the corners to give you a little bit of a tighter fit. But overall, this is still going to get the job done, and again, less expensive than some of the more premium options on the market coming in at right around $50 for this front sun shade.So, as we mentioned already, this is going to be very easy to get installed onto your Jeep, one out of three wrenches. Let me show you how to get it done. For this installation you'll just need an alcohol-based cleaner, and a clean rag. So, like we mentioned, this is going to be a very simple one out of three wrenches for the installation. This is going to attach with all of the Velcro straps. So what we're gonna do is throw it in place and put the first couple of straps around the support cage soundbar area here in the back. Then we're gonna work our way around the sides, and finally there's a little bit of Velcro that we have to peel a backing off of and stick down onto the metal of the windshield frame, but we'll get to that in just a second. So, again, throw it in place and start with these back straps.Once we have those straps started and loosely attached, we'll work our way around to the side here. Do the same thing. We want to get them attached but just loosely and then we'll come back and tighten them up again after we're done. The back strap here, slide on the side. Finally, this one up here on the corner. Now, we jump to the other side and do the same.The last step is to attach this Velcro to the top of the windshield frame right here. And before we do that, we're gonna use an alcohol-based cleaner on a rag, just to make sure that the area is nice and clean and we get a good stick. After we wipe the area down, we can peel the backing off of the Velcro and stick it down. Once that's done, we can take the larger Velcro strip that's attached onto our sun shade and velcro that on. Now we just have to go around and tighten up all of our straps.So if you're looking for an easy-to-install sun shade that's a little less expensive than some of the other brands on the market, this one from Rugged Ridge is going to be an excellent choice, and you can find it right here at extremeterrain.com.

Just enough shade
Just enough shade to keep the sun burns down but still feel the wind in my hair. I noticed a HUGE difference in how hot my leather seats. The fit is a little loose on the back but not enough that it is a problem. Well worth the money and the 10 minutes it took me to install.

Great Value!
I purchased and returned two similar items before this one. They had bulky bungee fasteners. This shade uses Velcro straps for a tight fit that won't stretch out. It is about an inch too wide so there a little bunching on the back corners, but not noticeable if you're not looking for it. AND, the T-Tops fit right over it.

Easy to put on. With being very fair I need the Sun shade so I don’t get sunburn in my travels. Does not block the wind. Helps with hats-prevents them from going down the highway.

Easy install, love it!
I got mine yesterday and even though I had oral surgery in the morning, I couldn't wait to put it on. So,, even with the anesthesia still in my system, I did it. It took about 30 min. So today I took it for a test drive. I love it so much! Its not noisy, it fits my 2018 4 door JL perfectly tight. My only issue was that I had to lift the hard top to fix the back hooks. I have yet to put the freedom tops back on over it. 30 minutes total start to finish to put it on and I'm a 70 year old woman!

Hadto return. Just couldn't get a tight fit. Seemed to me made of high quality material just needs better design on the front straps. Extreme terrain was awesome and made the return process painless.

Overall good
I’m pretty happy with this but the fit could be just a little better on the back corners. It is nice that you can leave it on with the freedom panels but is pretty difficult to put the freedom panels back on with this on. Most of this is my OCD. There is 0 flapping and hardly any noise. Does a nice job keeping the Jeep a bit cooler.

Didn’t work for me.
While I was looking at the selections of front Bimini Tops for my 2021 2-door Jeep Wrangler Sport I thought to myself save yourself some money and if the sun is beating down on the longer drives just put the top back up. But I ordered it anyway!! In lieu of putting the top back up I don’t know what the answer is but this top certainly is not the answer. The fit isn’t that great and it could use additional straps on both the sides and rear in my opinion. At higher speeds she gets flapping pretty good. And if you tighten it up too much it places more stress on the the Velcro strip used to keep the front anchored above the windshield. After the install and test drive I parked the Jeep back in the garage. A couple of days later I was going to drive down to a car show here in my hometown and I found the adhesive strip holding the Velcro strip in place had peeled off (I did clean the rail per the installation directions). At that point I removed the top entirely and placed it back in the storage pouch that was included. While the actual material seems sturdy enough it could use a redesign. Namely the addition of more straps might help. For me, it was a lesson to trust my gut. The top was a total waste of time and $70. Stuart
