This installation guide will illustrate how easy it is to install the RedRock 4x4 Dual Outlet Axle Back Exhaust. At first I was apprehensive about this installation due to all the reviews saying it was hard to remove the OEM muffler. I was wrong, this was a very easy installation, and I am confident that you will find it easy as well.
1. The first thing I had to do was remove the original OEM muffler. Again, I was told that this was going to be the bulk of the time required to complete the installation. So I was prepared for a fight. The first part of this step is to loosen the 15mm bolt that is securing the clamp that connects the muffler to the mid pipe. Use a 15mm socket for this. I found that a ½ inch drive socket was easier to give me more leverage on the nut, and I also used an extension on the socket in order to have something to hold to keep from torqueing the mid pipe too much.
2. Once the clamp is adequately loose, I disconnected the hanger from the muffler on the drivers side of the Jeep (leave the passenger side attached for now). This freed up the muffler to move without falling once the muffler was removed from the mid pipe.
3. Once I had the nut loose, and the drivers side hanger disconnected I used a few shots of WD-40 to loosen the bond between the mid pipe and the original muffler, and then started tapping with my hammer to dislodge the OEM muffler from the mid pipe. I also used a 2lbs hammer to knock the original muffler off the mid pipe.
4. Once the muffler is disconnected from the mid pipe (again the WD-40 saved my life on this step), disconnect the passenger side hanger (you may have to use WD-40 on both hangers as well, depending on your Jeep and how corroded they are) and remove the muffler.
5. Next install the RedRock 4x4 Dual Outlet Axle Back Exhaust. Just reverse these steps. It's pretty easy.
6. The last step is attach the tailpipe tips with the provided clamps and you are done!
See! That was easy! Now you are ready to head out to the highway or open trails, and turn some heads with your great new exhaust.
