I'm Ryan from extremeterrain.com, and this is my review and installation of the RedRock 4x4 Approach Front Bumper with Winch Mount and Grille Guard. This version also has the LED lights built into it, but it's available without the LEDs as well. This bumper will fit on all 2007 to 2017 JKs. Today, we're gonna talk about the functions and the construction of this bumper. This bumper is for those of you who wanna upgrade your factory plastic front bumper on your JK to something that's going to provide a lot more protection to your Jeep both on-road and off-road. This bumper is also going to provide much more of that tough, rugged, off-road styling and a lot of features that you're going to be able to take advantage of, again, on and off the road. RedRock 4x4 makes really affordable, high-quality products, so this bumper is gonna save you some money over those top-tier bumpers on the market while still providing a lot of functions and a lot of style. This is a plate steel bumper that's covered in a textured black powder coat finish that looks good, matches a lot of other off-road accessories and factory plastic accents, and will also protect the bumper for a good long time from rust and corrosion. Now, as far as the features go, this bumper has a lot of them. As is right in the name, this bumper does have this grille guard hoop that's right up on top, and weld into that are two spots to mount lights, there are two light-mounting tabs. This will accept any traditional, single post light mount pods, whether they be LED or halogen, or you could fab something up in order to run an LED light bar on here. Aside from the grille guard and the light mounts, as I mentioned before, this version of this bumper does have the LED lights built into it, but this bumper is also available without those if you would prefer that version. Now, these lights are not overly bright. They're not necessarily an on-road or an off-road light. They're not really an auxiliary light. They're more of a marker light than anything else. They have a little bit of a bluish tinge to them, but they'll do an okay job of matching most other LED off-road lights. And they do come with just a two-wire pigtail, so there's a little bit of wiring involved to get them set up. Because they are LED, they're not gonna draw a lot of amperage. You can tap right into your existing parking light, fog light, or headlight circuit to run them off of a factory switch, or you can run a full switch circuit all the way into the cab, so you have an independent switch to work these lights.Aside from that, again, right in the name of this bumper, it states that it has a winch mount. This is going to accept any winch on the market that has a standard footprint, which is most of them. It'll bolt it right up. You have a spot for your fairlead to mount as well. And something nice about this mount, as with a lot of other aftermarket bumpers, is that it sinks the winch down a little bit in between the frame rails. In my opinion, it just gives the Jeep a little bit of a cleaner look. Aside from that, you have two D-ring mounts on this bumper, and this does come with D-rings in the box, which is a nice feature, because it keeps you from having to order yet another item for your Jeep. I always like having D-ring mounts on the front of a bumper even if you have a winch mount, because it allows you to use the snatch block with your winch, doubling the pulling power, or if you're after a tow strap or a snatch strap recovery, you have an option to hook up for that as well.Other than that, the bumper has a couple of holes down the front here, which are really just for styling, a little bit of weight reduction, but it does add some nice style and a little bit more visual appeal to this bumper. All in all, I think the bumper is really well-built and has a really nice finish on it. The installation for this bumper is going to be very, very simple, and it installs just like your factory bumper does and like most other aftermarket bumpers are going to. The first step in that installation is removing your factory bumper, which you'll do by first removing the splash shield, then unclipping your fog light harness from the inside of the bumper, and, finally, removing the eight nuts that are holding the bumper onto the frame rail. Once you're finished with that, the bumper will just fall right off. You can set this one over the frame rails and start your re-installation. This will come with all the hardware necessary to get it bolted to the frame rails, giving you a nice, strong connection. Now, this bumper does have the winch ramp on it, so I would recommend bolting your winch to the bumper before putting the bumper on the Jeep. If you bolt the bumper out first, it can be very difficult to get to those winch-bearing bolts. Now, once you've bolt a big, heavy winch onto an already big, heavy bumper, the package is very cumbersome, so it will help to have an extra set of hands around during this install. Now, aside from having a friend around, you won't need any specialty tools, just a socket set, although having some extensions and universals will help you to get to some of those nuts for removing your factory bumper. And, again, the whole process shouldn't take you more than an hour. RedRock 4x4 has done a really nice job in making an affordable bumper that is really well-built, and has a really nice finish on it, and also has a lot of the features I look for in a bumper. Now, I personally would pick the bumper without the LED lights built into it and go with some more functional LED lights on these light mount tabs, if it were me, but I know a lot of you guys do like the integrated LED look. And, for that, it's really clean. They do look very nice. I think, for the price of this bumper compared to other bumpers on the market that have a similar built quality, finish quality, and features, I think you're getting a great deal.So if you're after an aftermarket front bumper for your JK that will provide more protection, style, and a lot more features, all without breaking the bank, I think this one is a really nice option. So that's my review of the RedRock 4x4 Approach Front Bumper with Grille Guard and Winch Mount, fitting all 2007 to 2017 JKs that you can find right here at extremeterrain.com.

Good Bumper for the price!
Some of the weeds on the bull bar were not the cleanest but other than that, a very good product, had a little trouble getting everything to line up when installing but nothing a little WD4D couldn't help with.

Great fitting, looking, functional bumper
Easy install, great looking...and in a fender bender head on at slow speed another car hit us swerving to avoid a deer at night. Definitely damaged the oncoming car...headlight, bumper, fender crumpled. On our 2011 Wrangler the bumper itself blocked any damage to the fender and tire. With the old stock bumper the bumper would have been bent and possibly the fender and tire damaged as well. As it stands.....the bumper had some smoothed areas where the textured part of the powder black coating was mashed smooth...but the finish was not removed and the bumper was not at all bent.

Powder Coating Issue
Would have given this 5 stars until two months after install I noticed there was an issue with the powder coating and I was getting an oily appearance coming from underneath. Of course this product is only insured for 30 days so I'm just out of luck and money.
