(1)I'm Ryan from extremeterrain.com, and this is my review of the Raxiom auto-dimming 4.3-inch rearview mirror with backup camera, fitting all 2007 to 2016 JKs.There are a few things that can make it difficult to see when backing up your Jeep, from tinted windows to a large spare tire taking up most of that rear window, so if you want to make it a little bit easier to see behind you and you want to add a modern convenience to your Jeep, this is a really nice kit, assuming you have the budget for it.There are a few different components you need for an effective backup camera system, and this kit includes all of them. The mirror that's included in the kit is not only auto-dimming, which is a really nice feature if you haven't experienced it before, if somebody behind you has their high beams on, the mirror will dim down to eliminate any glare that would otherwise go into your eyes, but the mirror also includes a three-and-a-half-inch LCD screen which is what you view your backup camera image on.The camera that's included in the kit gives you a really crisp, clean picture and it's in color, which is a nice feature, and you can really mount that camera anywhere you're willing to drill a three-quarter-inch hole. But, the kit also includes this really nice camera mount that not only puts the camera in an area where it won't stick out like a sore thumb, but also gives you a really nice high viewing angle to give you a very nice picture of what's behind you. The camera comes with all of the wiring harnesses that are necessary to get it hooked up, and it'll come on automatically when you shift the Jeep into reverse.Between the mount that hides the camera and the rearview mirror that looks factory, you can hardly even tell this system is installed on the Jeep until you shift it into reverse. The camera system also includes a second video input, so if you were to add a second camera up front, or any other video input, you can do that, as well.There are a few steps involved in getting this installed in your Jeep, and there is going to be a little bit of wiring involved, as well, but if you're comfortable with automotive wiring, this is definitely doable by yourself. You could always take this to a shop and have it installed, as well, if wiring isn't something you're comfortable with.The first step in the installation process is to remove your factory rearview mirror. There's just one set screw that you need to remove, and the mirror will come off. There's a trim piece that you'll need to cut a little bit off of to run your new wiring from the mirror, and a trim piece above the windshield and down the A-pillar that you'll remove to run your intermediate wiring harness. After that, you'll remove your spare tire and install the camera on the spare tire camera mount. There are a few other connections that you'll need to make at the back of the Jeep to pick up 12 volts of ground, and your trigger wire so every time you shift the Jeep into reverse the camera comes on automatically. After everything is installed in the Jeep, and all of your wiring has been tested and is working properly, you can use the remote control that comes with your rearview mirror to set up your parking guidelines and a few other options. The whole installation process should take you about an hour and a half, and you won't need any specialty tools, however, some wiring tools are necessary.As with most kits that include multiple components, you can generally put that kit together from individual components for less than the kit would cost. But, you're paying a little bit of a premium when you purchase a kit like this because everything is put in one box for you, it includes all the wiring harnesses, and you know for a fact that everything is going to work together. So, if you're looking for the convenience of having everything in one spot, and you have the budget for it, this is a good kit to look at.So that's my review of the Raxiom auto-dimming 4.3-inch rearview mirror with backup camera, fitting all 2007 to 2016 JKs, that you can find right here at extremeterrain.com.

Camera worked well
Camera worked well for a short time. Not sure why it stopped working after four months, with most of that time spent in a garage. I think there's plenty of room for improvement on the installation instructions, particularly the wiring diagram and the accompanying pictures. Took about 2-3 hours to install. It helps if someone else is present to install the rear camera.

Great product. I couldn’t ask for a clearer video in the mirror. As other reviews have noted the instructions are worthless. Unless you are very comfortable with car electronics you will have a very frustrating time installing

Hook up instructions were lacking
The instructions lacked clarity and the wiring instructions weren’t for my vehicle. Support was tremendous. Called three times and had great service. They took the time to actually talk to me and treat me like a person. The remote for the mirror works sometimes.

Rear view mirror with backup camera
Easy install. Took about two hours. I found it much easier and better connection to attach ground wires to actual ground, which there’s one where you do the actual wiring. Other than ground, only other wires attach to reverse trigger wire (white with gray stripe. The camera holder that goes behind spare tire is somewhat short if you have aftermarket wheels with backspacing. Works great.

Works perfect.
The install on this took about two hours, I did however have to put the camera on the bottom of the tire upside down because of the type of rims I had the camera would’ve been directly lined up with them covering the lenses, so we drilled a hole in the mount and installed the camera upside down. Besides that everything works perfect and id definitely recommend this product.

Great camera bad directions
I was able to figure it out but the directions need to be clearer. My kit was missing the connectors that tie into the wiring harness, you can work around it but it add time to the project. The mirror is nice but my stock mirror has map lights and this one does not. Give yourself at least 3hrs for the install.

Now I can see what is behing me
I received the time as planned but had two wait an additional 2 weeks to have it installed due to wiring diagram and reviews of the product. The tech at I were I took my jeep had the same questions but was able to figure this out and got it working. It works good, but there was no instructions for the remote so I am still trying to figure this one out.

Q: 2 Pictures show a remote but remote is not listed with what is included. Is the remote included or is it an option? Also states that extra cable maybe needed for the unlimited. Is an extra cable needed? Yes or NO?
A: Hello, this kit does come with the remote. For the JK Unlimited model applications it may require a longer cable for installation.
Q: I there a version available that is wireless and includes recording? I’d like one with front facing camera as well and the ability to record both because of high theft in area. Also being able to record off road without mounting more on dash. Also, does this have lights like factory mirror? Not having to run wire length of vehicle is biggest issue along with price. This is over 5 times more than other ones I’ve found that are wireless and touch screen with recording. They just don’t have lights or dimming for brights coming up behind you.
A: This is not available wireless or with a recording like a dash camera would. This mirror does not have built-in dome lights either.
Q: Can you st it up so that you have rear view all the time rather than just when reversing?
A: This is not designed for continuous on.
Q: Does this backup camera have a beep sensor also?
A: This kit does not include any kind of beep sensor.
Q: Anyone have success installing this? I am not getting any power from the Orange w/Tan cable. Step 15. Is that the right cable to tap into?
