Simple install, good shock

While I was installing new rear shocks, I also replaced the front with the same. These were an easy install except for the passenger side, where there was a little interference with the battery plate. I was able to break out a little bit of plastic and everything went in perfectly. There was no issue, the shocks, like the back ones, are really nice.

These have only been on my Jeep for a few weeks, but so far I really like them. Beyond being far better than the OEM (which, truthfully, were worn out) the adjustability is great, and very noticeable. I 3D printed a tool to make adjustments easier, as my main complaint is that the adjuster nob is just a little to small.

Great upgrade, shipping could be better

Overall big upgrade from stock while not breaking the bank. Install is pretty easy, if I can do it you can too! Having two wrenches of same size will be required, unless you have an excellent adjustable. Make sure you have the right sizes before starting! Left a star off due to package issues which were corrected, but feel both Extreme and Rancho could improve on. The package: Bare bones. No install instructions or info on what to do with zip ties for example. My boxes arrived pretty banged up. Was missing bushings and washer pack in one box. Called Rancho and they sent a replacement, arrived in 4 days time. The ride: Much better ride than stock. I set it to 4 and it’s much softer on bumps than stock. Turns are smoother. The install: Getting old suspension, rusted bolts off was toughest part of install. Spray your old bolts with WD40 or other loosener night before. I sprayed some and let sit for a few hours; bolt ended up breaking. My 2011 Sahara front suspension nuts were 18 mm for front (top and bottom). The nut Rancho sent is a 19 mm up top for the fronts. Bottom bolt you will reuse stock. For rear nuts it was 16 top and 18 bottom. Install was very easy. Reuse stock bolts, nuts. Reference my photo for what to do with zip tie in package. Highly recommend videos by TRQ for install help.

Less Harsh Ride

I just installed the Rancho RS9000XL shocks at all 4 corners of my 2003 Jeep TJ Rubicon with 3-1/2 in RE short arm lift kit. I returned the front shocks that I purchased that were listed for 2-4 inch lift as they were over 3 inches longer than the RE shocks I removed. Extreme Terrain was great letting me exchange the fronts for shocks listed for 1–3 inch lift. These were exactly 1/2 shorter than the removed RE shocks ans should work just fine. So far I've only been off road with the Jeep once with the new shocks. The ride is way less harsh than the RE shocks. I will experiment with the settings later. I set the fronts at 3 and the rears at 5.

I am extremely impressed with these shocks and recommend them for the tj wrangler, The adjustability is key in getting the ride of the jeep dialed in after a lift kit is installed, especially if its your daily driver!

Fast shipping, box's arrived in good condition, both rear shocks appear to be in good new condition, made in usa! Upper, and lower bushings are not made of red polyurethane. Have not tested shocks on or off road yet. Easy install, and happy with product, and overall exerience buying from extreme terrain. Will update review after front shocks arrive are installed, and i get some on and off road miles on set of 4 shocks.
