How To Install a Pypes High Clearance Catback Exhaust on your 2007-2016 Jeep Wrangler JK

  • 5/8 “ socket wrench
  • WD-40 or other lubricant
  • Crowbar
  • Crescent Wrench

Before: 


Step 1: 

Remove the Stock tailpipe by loosening the nut attached to the midpipe using the 5/8” socket wrench. 

Step 2: 

Once the nut is loosened with 5/8” socket, spray WD-40 on the rubber hangers on the left and the right side holding the tailpipe and muffler. (see picture of hanger) 


Step 3: 

Using the crowbar pry the rubber hanger away from the muffler to free the muffler. Start with the passenger rear side. 

Step 4: 

Once both hangers are removed and the muffler and is hanging, pull the muffler away from the mid pipe. 

Step 5:

Next step is to remove the mid pipe and the resonator.

Step 6:

Using the 5/8” socket loosen all the bolts to the mid pipe and the resonator.

Step 7:

Using WD-40 or preferred lubricant, spray all rubber hangers and pry them off with the crowbar. 

Step 8:

Pull the resonator away from the mid pipe and take out the mid pipe and the resonator.

Step 9: 

Now that everything is removed start by putting the pypes midipe on with the connectors provided and tighten with 5/8” socket. 


Step 10: 

Next connect the muffler to the mid pipe using the appropriate connectors and tighten with 5/8” socket. 


Step 11:

Put the tailpipe in and hang them with the hangers provided. 


Step 12: 

Once the tailpipe is hung connect the tailpipe to the muffler but do not tighten the connector until the exhaust is aligned like wanted. 


Step 13: 

Once aligned, tighten muffler and tailpipe connections with 5/8” socket and go listen to the new sound!
