Description
Key Features. Few things are as essential in your Jeep as the locks. They're the first line of defense against thieves, so when there's a problem you need to take immediate action. This Omix-ADA Tailgate Lock Cylinder provides the kind of reliability, protection and functionality you would expect, thanks to an OE style design. Installation in simple, and a replacement key is included so you don't have to pay a locksmith to rekey the lock, helping to keep the replacement cost down.
Construction. Locks need to be tough for obvious reasons, and that's why it's critical that Omix-ADA makes this Tailgate Lock Cylinder out of durable stainless steel. The dimensions and design match OE specs for excellent fit and function, as does the retaining clip. The included key has a plastic handle cover, boosting comfort and helping to guard against the risk of shearing.
Installation. Give yourself one to two hours to complete this job. You'll need to start by removing all hardware from the inside of the tailgate. Pry the tailgate cover off next, then carefully peel back the plastic lining underneath to expose the OE lock cylinder. Use a screwdriver or needle nose pliers to pop out the old retaining clip, then reverse the procedure to install the new lock cylinder. You'll need an array of basic tools, including a screwdriver, small pry bar, and needle nose pliers. The job isn't difficult to perform, but it can be time consuming for anyone who's never taken apart a door or tailgate.
