Off-Road Recovery Jacks & Accessories

Off-Road Recovery Jacks & Accessories

Why an Off-Road Recovery Jack Is a Necessity

Whether you’re new to off-roading or a seasoned enthusiast, it’s always necessary to make sure that your truck is equipped with all the proper safety equipment. No matter your skill level, safety is the single most important thing to consider when off-roading. In order to be properly prepared for safety in any event, you’ll need to equip your SUV with a quality offroad recovery jack. A recovery jack is similar to a standard car jack, but it’s used for recovery purposes when you’re on a trail. If you’re stuck in a crevice, for instance, a recovery jack can lift your car up long enough to stick a traction board underneath the wheel. Without a recovery jack, those instances would leave you stranded on the trail. In order to offroad with comfort and confidence, make sure your vehicle is equipped with a recovery jack for when something goes wrong.

Knowing the Limitations of Your Recovery Jack

While a recovery jack is a type of jack, it’s important to be aware of its limitations. Recovery jacks are not the same as standard automotive jacks, and shouldn’t be used in the same way. They’re not as strong as standard jacks, nor are they as stable. While they can hold the weight of your car for short periods while you remove it from a sticky situation, you shouldn’t leave your car propped up by a recovery jack while you do repairs. It’s not worth the safety risk.

Other Recovery Accessories to Use

A recovery jack is the most important tool for offroad recovery, but there are other accessories that can really help. A traction board will allow you to manufacture traction on slippery surfaces, or other areas where your off-road tires can’t gain traction, and shackles and winches will help you feel more safe when off-roading. These accessories, along with a recovery jacket, will leave you well prepared should you find your SUV stuck.
