Further, with this 4.88 gear ratio, you can fit wider tires in your truck for improved performance while crawling on rocks.
Re-Gearing. On upgrading to this 4.88 gear ratio, re-gearing is recommended. When you fit larger tires on your truck, the engine has to work extra hard to turn them. Without re-gearing, the engine will consume a lot of fuel and have reduced performance.
