Driving on wheels that aren’t properly aligned can also cause a reduction in your handling and control of your JK. If your JK has been pulling to the side, your front end is shimmying, your steering wheel doesn’t line up, or your front tires show uneven wear, then your tires are out of alignment. Additionally, if you’ve done a mod on your JK, for example, installed a 3” or higher lift kit, then you will need to make some adjustments. In most cases, with the JK, you can do most of your own alignment tasks yourself with just a few special tools. Failing to align your tires after a significant lift has been added, the more you will cause your steering wheel to be off, which in turn will cause your ESP system to activate your BAS (because it thinks you are permanently on an incline). The following chart will give you the information on the preferred ranges for the total toe measurements, caster, cross caster, camber, and cross camber, and the thrust angle for the rear. Different from the TJ, the JK doesn’t have a tie-rod connected to the drag link, so the toe-in setting isn’t affected when a smaller lift kit is installed, but the toe will still need to be adjusted.
