Pro Tip. We do not doubt that you can rebuild a gearbox on your own. It's only held into your Wrangler with a few bolts, and you can quickly move it to a catch pan on the benchtop. While you need to do as much homework as possible, we can provide one quick tip: leave the steering gear backlash adjustments alone. It's the screw on the top of the gearbox with the locknut. It sits facing you as you look down onto the top of your gearbox in the engine bay. Changing the adjustment can result in damage to the internal parts. However, you do not need to remove it to reseal the box.
