Merideth: If you're looking for an affordable way to get some modern styling out of your 2007 to 2018 JK Wrangler's headlight setup, these LED DRL Projector Headlights with the Turn Signals, Black Housing, and Clear Lens will be a great option. Now, this will be great for anybody out there who is just not happy with their factory lighting, whether it's dated, as far as the appearance is concerned, or the lighting performance or lack thereof. Now, this set will be the complete opposite, offering you the confidence that you need to drive at night, with the bright and clear visibility, while integrating modernized styling into your build, with the LEDs and the integrated turn signal feature. These headlights will make all the difference, featuring multiple projectors, with Osram LED lights that will offer a huge upgrade from the factory, especially the incandescent, for cleaner and a more precise beam pattern, to make driving at night a whole lot easier. Now, this set will also have an LED daytime running light halo, as you can see, bordering the headlight, with an amber switchback turn signal, to make other drivers more aware of you, and, of course, add to that updated styling that much more. Not to mention, you're getting that black housing here, with a clear line, so this is going to give you that more blacked-out look to match with other black accessories, while also not hindering the lighting performance at all, thanks to the fully transparent lens right on the front. Now, getting into the construction, these will include a tough, impact-resistant lens on the front, and an aluminum housing, for a durable build, and to resist any damage off-road, while keeping all the electronics in here cool, thanks to the aluminum. Now, these will also be weather-sealed, and have an IP67 waterproof rating, as well as dustproof, to make sure that nothing's going to get in and fog up the lens or harm the LEDs inside. Now, these will also be DOT and SAE-compliant, and mostly plug-and-play. You will have to do a little bit of wiring here when it comes to the turn signal and the halo, but it's very easy, and we'll show you how to do that in just a minute.Coming in at roughly $200, these are gonna be set at a pretty affordable price point, making this a very easy way to upgrade the look and function of your Wrangler. Now, with this set, you're getting great lighting performance, and it's clean and simple when it comes to the styling if you're looking to keep it more toned down compared to other flashier options. Not to mention, these will have a quality build, and because of the nature of the LED, you won't have to maintenance these at all, so you're not gonna have to worry about these over time, making them well worth that $200 price point.Because of the wiring, this is going to get a lighter 2 out of 3 wrenches on the difficulty meter, but it should only still take you about an hour to get the job done with some pretty basic hand tools. Now, at this point, we can head over to the shop and check out a detailed breakdown of what that install process looks like, step by step. So, that's gonna wrap it up for me. Let's go ahead and get into it.Man 1: The tools you'll need for this project are a trim panel removal tool or a flathead screwdriver, a T15 Torx bit, a pair of wire strippers and crimpers, a pair of pliers, an electrical test light, and some electrical connectors of your choice.Hi, everyone. Today we're installing a set of headlights on our Wrangler, but first, let's watch a short video on how to uninstall the stock headlights.Man 2: So, this is a relatively easy install, since there's only a few screws that hold these headlights in. However, we do need to remove our stock grille, so we're gonna pop our hood open so we can access the plastic retainers that hold that in. So, you're gonna have six of these plastic retainers across the top of your grille. They're really easy to remove. We're gonna use a flathead screwdriver to pop up the center and pull the whole thing out. So, the top of the grille is free. However, the bottom of the grille is held in with a few metal clips. The way we're gonna remove that, we're just gonna tug out on that, and that whole thing will disconnect. After we do that, we're gonna pull this grille away, and we'll disconnect our lights. So, we're gonna turn these till they unlock. Let those hang there. Do the same thing for the other side. Just turn these till they unlock, and we'll pull this grille away. So, the next step, we're gonna remove the four small screws that hold this chrome ring in here, which is holding our light in. We're gonna use a T15 Torx to remove those. One thing you wanna make sure you do is keep a hand on it while you're removing these screws, because they will just fall out on you. So, to unplug these, we're gonna press back on this red locking tab. Once that's all the way up, we can press down on our release, and unplug our light.Man 1: Now, before we actually get to installing our lights, there's a couple things we need to cover first. One, you'll notice that the plug on the back of the lights does not match your factory harness on your vehicle. But they do supply this adapter harness. So, what you're gonna do is just plug this into the adapter harness, like so, and then the other end will now match your factory harness. The other thing that you'll notice is that there are two wires, a red and a yellow wire, attached to this harness, and that is to cover the DRLs and the turn signals that are built into the lights. So, we're gonna have to tap into our wiring harness for the parking light and turn signals on the vehicle. Now, they also provide two extra wires, a red and a yellow wire, to be able to hook up to your factory harness. The red wire is going to be for your DRLs. The yellow wire is for your turn signals. Now, they also provide a quick-connect connector for all of these wires. And the way that these work, if you've never used one, is that it's got a pass-through on the outside of the connector, and the other side, on the inside, near the hinge, has a stop in it. That is for this wire on your harness, that's supplied in the kit. The pass-through side is for the wire that's already on your factory harness. And the way these work is you're going to take your factory harness wire, and slip it inside your quick-connect on the outside. The wire harness that is provided in the kit is gonna go on the other side, and you'll notice that it doesn't go all the way through. So, what happens then is you'll take a pair of pliers, crimp down on the metal blade in the middle of the connector, and then close it up and lock it with the upper tab. Now, we're not actually gonna put that on right now, because we don't need to. Plus, our vehicle has been modified before, so we have a different connection setup. And we'll go through that, so that you can determine on your own how you wanna hook up your new lights. So, let's get started with that. Now, the way that ours is set up is we've got some spade connectors on the vehicle itself. So, what we need to do is put a male spade connector on the ends of these wires. And to do that, what we're gonna do is strip off about a quarter of an inch off the end of the wire, twist it, so that it doesn't fray. Then we'll take our male spade connector here, slide our wire into the connector, and then, using a pair of crimpers, we'll crimp that connector onto the wire. And then just give it a little tug, to make sure that it's on. And we'll do the same thing for the yellow wire. Give it a little tug, make sure it's snug. Now, we can go ahead and plug in the female connectors here to the harness that's on the back of the light. So, we're gonna do yellow to yellow, and red to red. Now that we've got that all set up, let's go ahead and get this installed. All right. Now, before we know exactly which wires we need to hook up into our parking and turn signals, so that we can plug these in, we've gotta determine which is which on our plug. Now, as you can see, our light is already on, so we've turned on our parking lights. So, that's gonna hook up to our red light, our red wire here, for our DRLs. Now, to determine which of these wires... Because there's three wires on the back of the connector here. We've got two white wires with a stripe, and a black wire. The black wire is gonna be our ground, so we're not gonna be concerned with that one. So, what we're gonna do is go ahead and disconnect our light from the connector. Then we're gonna be using a test light, make sure that you've got a good ground on the other end, and we're gonna start probing the connectors inside here. Now the first one, obviously, is going to be the ground, so we don't expect to have a light there. The second one, the middle one, lights up. The third one does not. So that tells me, then, that the middle light is going to be for our DRLs and our parking lights. The third one is going to be for our turn signals. So, now we know which ones we have to connect to. So, in this case, the second one here, that we've got hooked up to the red extension wire... Like I said earlier, we've modified our vehicle before. So this is going to be for our DRLs. The other white wire here, that has the yellow extension on it, is going to be for our turn signals. Now that we've got that figured out, we can go ahead and get our light installed. So, we'll go ahead and plug our light bulb back in. And now we'll just turn off our parking lights. Now, to start our install, what I'm gonna recommend you doing is either cut these two wires here to length, or just feed them back behind the black ring that retains the headlight, and then we can tie them up later. So, we've got those through. Now we can go ahead and connect our light to our factory harness, by pushing it in, making sure that it snaps into place, and then pushing down on the red locking tab. Now, once you've got that done, you can go ahead and feed the harness in, put your light in place, put your retaining ring on, and secure it with the original hardware. All right. Now we're gonna go ahead and connect our wiring harness from the light to the wiring harness extensions on the factory harness. So, we're gonna match them up, yellow to yellow, and red to red. Now, once you've got that done, go ahead and, like I said, you can go ahead and cut these prior to putting on your connector ends. Since we're not leaving this as a permanent addition to our vehicle, we're just gonna wrap it all up and tie it off, so that it's out of the way. All right. Now that we've got one side done, you can go ahead and repeat that whole process for the other side. All right. Now that we've got our lights installed, we can go ahead and reinstall our grille. To do that, we're gonna start off by reconnecting our turn signal and parking light bulbs. Do that on both sides. Lock those into place. Insert our tabs at the bottom of our grille, into the core support. And now we can secure the top of our grille, using the original push pins. And that wraps up our review and install of the LED DRL Projector Headlights with Turn Signals, with the Black Housing and Clear Lens, for your '07 to '18 Jeep Wrangler JK. Thanks for watching, and remember, for all things Wrangler, keep it right here at extremeterrain.com.
