Summer is here and Jeep security is something we take pride in at XT. Eric tells us about the coolest Jeep Security Storage Solutions to keep our valuable protected. From the brands we know and love, Aries, Smittybilt to Tuffy and many more...
The best thing about a Jeep during the summer months is getting loose with the soft tops and the doors off, and just being free. Working on your tan, getting some liquid sunshine, or just breathing in that fresh mountain air. It’s an outdoors thing for sure.Half stripping down your Jeep means you’ve lost some of the protection you would normally get while storing stuff in your ride. By going half naked, your Jeep is easy to plunder - everything’s out in the open. But not to worry. There are some great storage ideas that not only add security with protecting your valuables, they’re also quite practical year-round, even with your Jeep wrapped up for the fall or winter months. The most popular and quick upgrade is your center console. But not just any console. You need one that you can lock, and secures the small things you depend on. The best way to go is with a Tuffy product for your Jeep. Made from 16-gauge steel (not plastic!), they are solid security go-to items.Yeah, they look good. But they also have an anti-pry lip to prevent tampering, they’re powder coated to prevent any rusting and will last for many years. With an anti-twist lock and weather seals, it’s the perfect place for storage that’s quick and painless. Regardless of weather conditions, it stays sealed, rain or shine. Once bolted to your Jeep, it offers the most bang for the buck as far as security and storage.Along with the Tuffy brand, we also have consoles by Rugged Ridge and Smittybilt. All these companies offer different styles and looks to match what looks great on your personal Jeep, so be sure and check them all out.Another practical storage area is the rear of your jeep, where you normally store gear anyway. The best thing is, there are security solutions back there for just about any Wrangler or Jeep, from the CJ, YJ, TJ, and of course, the JK.Tuffy again goes full-on and gives you a security area that rivals many others in the field. Locking the tailgate secures the back end of the enclosure, but also gives you quick and easy access for when you open your tailgate. The top is covered by steel, which is also strong enough so that you can load even more gear on top of it, up to 350 lbs. There are several options for rear locking storage and a multitude of styles and designs. Some have roller bearing drawers (for you contractors and handymen out there), such as the one by Smittybilt. That one also has built in tie downs to secure more gear on top.Aries Automotive offers an aluminum security box with easy to open top panels, and it also reaches from left to right across the full width of your Jeep, giving you one of the largest capacities in the industry for security storage. It also doesn’t interfere with your soft or hard top.Moving to the interior of your Jeep, the Tuffy concealed storage box mounts under your front seat. It’s small, compact, and made from steel. It’s good for small arms, a cell phone, a wallet, and other things you want to store safely if you are away from your Jeep.If you’re depending on locking something in your factory glove box, we don’t recommend that. It’s made from plastic and takes about 2 seconds to pop open with a pry bar. But not to worry. Many companies, including Tuffy, make steel glove boxes that fit like the factory box and can be painted to match your Jeep’s interior. No one will even know you swapped them. These are just some of our popular storage and security solutions, but we carry many more. We have the style that’s just right for you. Keep your property protected while you enjoy your outdoor Jeep Life.
