This guide is for installing the Drake Offroad 4wd Shifter Knob on a 2007-2017 Jeep Wrangler. The images are of a 2008 Wrangler Unlimited, but the installation process is the same for all years.

Before

After

Installation Instructions:

1. Park the vehicle on a flat surface and apply the parking brake.

2. Put the vehicle in 4wd low to have a better pulling angle.

3. Pull very hard on the factory 4wd shift knob. The knob is fastened by a barb on the bottom of the shifter and will pull straight off. If you have eaten your Wheaties, it will pull off. If not, using the optional strap wrench, twist the knob clockwise and counter-clockwise a few times, this will help break it free from the barb.

4. Remove the new shift knob from the package.

5. Remove the tire tread from the new shift knob. You should be able to pry under it with a fingernail. There is a set screw under the tire tread.

6. Using the 3/32 Allen, loosen the set screw, but do not completely remove it.

7. Place the shift knob on the shifter shaft. Make sure the shift pattern is properly oriented and the knob seats all the way down on the shaft.

8. Using the 3/32 Allen, tighten the set screw against the shifter shaft.

9. Replace the tire tread on the shift knob.

10. Your installation is now complete.
