Features, Description, Q&A
Replaces A Worn Or Damaged Steering Gear Box Worm Shaft. Over miles of service and possible exposure to contaminants, the gear at the end of the steering input shaft may become worn or damaged, causing excessive play in the steering wheel even when the rest of the steering components have been replaced. This play is caused by worn teeth on the worm gear which no longer meshes as tightly as they once did. While some opt to adjust the worm gear depth, this often results in binding steering, with the real solution being a rebuilt steering box; this worm shaft is a necessary component of the rebuild process.
Not To Be Used In Applications Equipped With Factory Power Steering. Between power and manual steering systems, hardly any parts are shared. This is especially true in regards to the steering gearboxes and their internals. For this reason, this worm shaft is only to be used on vehicles factory equipped with manual steering.
OE-Style Replacement. This product is engineered to match the specifications of the original worm gear shaft and steering gearbox for a fit and functionality that meets or exceeds that of the oem shaft.
Warranty. A 12-Month, 12,000-Mile Warranty covers this product against defects in manufacturing and workmanship.
Application. This steering gear worm shaft is engineered for steering boxes of 1976-1986 Jeep CJ7 and 1973-1983 Jeep CJ5 models equipped with factory manual steering.
