Solid replacement!

The cotter pins are a challenge with my fat fingers and location. I had to adjust fully out both sides of the cable to reach levers. It works good though. No more clunky arms popping out of the grommets.

Huge upgrade

If you are doing a new clutch, why skip this amazing upgrade. Shifting is so much better

Great Shifter

I installed this on my 2004 TJ with the NV3550 transmission. The install was easy and straight forward. The shifter is nice and it works great, short shifts, no slop when in gear. The only issue I have is that the shifter does not center in the middle of the shift pattern like the stock shifter. When in neutral, it lines up with 1st-2nd gear not 3rd-4th. I called B&M and spoke with customer service about this but they said that is not an issue. I have gotten used to it but it was not expected. Overall I would recommend this if you want tighter shifts and a better driving experience.

The stock JL shifter is already good...

...but this takes it across the finish line. If you're used to installing short shifters on other transmissions expect the same end result (there is a practical ceiling). The stock JL shifter is already quite good and a lot of the way there but this finishes the job. If that's worth it to you then this is what you want. Install is entirely in cabin which is nice too

Good product

Good quality product, I had problems to install it because the bracket goes on the body, the nut come off the rubber part and end up with different solution and the bracket that goes on the transfer was another thing, I had to cut a piece to make fit, At the end I’m happy with the results

Great shifter

This really is a great shifter, but I would have liked it better if they would have built it correctly the first time. I really don’t like the idea of having to disassemble a nearly $400 shifter to fix a quality control issue. It seems to be a fairly common issue too since I didn’t have any problems finding the fix for it.

transfer case repair

I have a 1998 Tj wrangler the transfer case would not shift. Had to modify the new hardware to fit the around the Transmission I am running a 5.7 Hemi with a 545rfe auto transmission the kit was thick enough to modify to fit and work .1/4' steel works great.

B&M short shifter

Easy to install with great directions also. Takes a bit to get used to because it is way tighter than stock. Smooth operation and very high-quality product. Have a buddy that is building a jeep and cannot wait to get his done after riding in mine seeing the difference. No clearance issues either!

As many mods as I’ve done to jeeps over the years, this is arguably my favorite. The whole driving experience has been elevated.

Get instructions from B&M website

This shipped without instructions, and the installation is not at all intuitive, so instructions are absolutely essential. Just google the part number and B&M have OK instructions on their website. It would be nice if the instructions had bolt sizes listed, but they were (if I remember right) a 15mm on the T case, T30 to remove the center console, and 10mm to remove a nut on a bracket. Total time was about an hour. But there is one bugger of a nut. The upper nut on the bracket on the T case... I could get the old one off with a offset box end wrench, but the new bracket doesn't allow for room to fit a wrench in there, so I had to use a crow foot with a wiggler on it. I couldn't get a socket on it because of some TC sensor or solenoid in the way. The shift cable rubs on my clutch slave cylinder hose. It's possible it should have been routed on the other side of it, but I'm pretty sure that's how the factory TC shift cable was. Packaging was a bright blue B&M box, so if you want to be discrete, ship it to work.
