The Trektop NX Glide from Bestop is perfect for the '07 to '17 2-door JK owner that really wants the best of both worlds in a soft top. I say that because the Glide offers that cool fastback look that you can't get from MOPAR, but it still functions just like the factory top. When it comes to how easy and functional a soft top can be, I think that we all pretty much agree that the factory top wins. Bestop actually makes the factory Jeep soft top, so this is their most functional one yet. This top also has plenty of configurations that I really like but I'll get into those options in just a minute. But before I break this thing down, there are some other reasons that you might want the NX Glide. It's perfect if you have an existing hard top and you need all of the soft top hardware in order to install the top. And this is a perfect way to replace and upgrade your factory top if it's starting to look a little worse from wear. As far as install goes, there's no drilling involved with this bow system. So, even though the install is a little long, it's easy as cake. I give this one, a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter and I'll dive deeper into the install in just a moment. Like I said Bestop makes all the OEM soft tops that you see on the Jeeps right out of the factory. So, you're getting that classic factory Black Diamond material on the NX Glide. This is also available in a black twill if you're looking for a little bit more of a luxury finish. The Black Diamond material is a 28-ounce fabric. Factory stuff aside, Bestop took a different approach to their windows this time with a tinted and DOT approved 40-mil panels that slide in and out instead zippering to the top. This is gonna make the install and uninstall super easy and it makes folding down the top all the way back just much quicker. So, you can see why this top is the best of both worlds. This is the only top available, at the moment, that has the fastback look with the Sunrider feature and that can still fold all the way back down, like a convertible top. The Sunrider feature has multiple pockets for extra storage for small items in the cab to free up some space. And when your Sunrider is closed, Bestop gives you a puddle bar to put over your front seats so the rain doesn't puddle up on your soft top. Speaking of seating arrangements, we have options available for the 2-door and the 4-door models, so make sure you get the right one for your JK. This top is right in the middle with price and it's what you would expect when you're buying a top with all the hardware included and multiple options. At the moment, that means you're looking at spending right around $900 for the fabric and all of the hardware. Now there are less expensive fastback options like base Trektop or the Trektop NX, but they don't include this zipperless windows or the convertible feature. The more expensive choices are gonna have a couple of different options, including a traditional square back look and/or a higher quality twill fabric. Getting that factory Bestop quality while staying in the middle of the road with price, for the best of both worlds, is, in my opinion, very well worth it with this unique setup. Not to mention that Bestop has a five-year limited warranty so your investment is protected. Like I said this install is lengthy but it's also a very straightforward. I'm giving it a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter and I'd say that it would take up about two hours' worth of your time. I would recommend having another set of hands on this one to make sure the install is much easier and a couple of basic hand tools. First things first, you have to remove your existing top and start installing the front and rear door surrounds with the knobs provided. Then you can insert the puddle bar above the two front seats. Next, you're going to install the bow mount brackets for the convertible feature. Then attach the header assembly to the front of the top and attach all the foams seals while also attaching the side bows that allow the fabric to retract. After you attach everything to the fabric, you can drape it over the Jeep and fold the front portion back, so you can start attaching the bow to bow mounting brackets. After all the bow assemblies are attached together, you can attach the cable spring to the bow corner plates to allow the Sunrider feature to come up. Then there are a couple more bows and need to be attached together and following that you can install the tailgate bar retainers. Next, you can slide your rear windows into place, slide your tailgate bar on, and pop it into place. Lastly, secure your header channel to the windshield hoops and make sure that everything functions properly. All the detailed instructions will come in the box for reference, as well. So, if you're looking for a fastback soft top within a ton of options, this Bestop Trektop NX Glide is the best choice for you and your JK.
