Hey, guys. I'm Eric with ExtremeTerrain. In this video, I'm gonna give you my review and install of these Barricade HD Rocker Steps in Textured Black for all 2020 and later Jeep Gladiators. You should definitely be checking these out if you're looking for a solution to get in and out of your Jeep a lot easier, but you also wanna maintain rugged off-road styling. Now, getting in and out of our Jeeps, whether you own a Wrangler or a Gladiator, is a tall enough task in their stock configuration. Now, if you're like most Jeep owners and you're gonna add larger tires and/or a lift to your Jeep, that's gonna make that task even tougher. And let's face it, it's a downright challenge when you add several inches of ground clearance to your Jeep. Now, Barricade's rocker steps are the perfect answer to that challenge. They provide a nice wide stepping surface and they come in this textured black powder coat that not only provides rugged protection against weathering and corrosion for the steps themselves, but they also provide a non-skid surface in wet conditions. Now, these steps from Barricade are made from heavy-duty steel. In fact, they are a lot more robust and heavy than a lot of the other steps and running boards that I've worked with here at ExtremeTerrain. That's gonna provide a lot better protection for your rocker panel area on your Gladiator. Now, if your truck is like this one that we're working on today and it's a sport trim level, these come from the factory without anything installed there. And they look bare, in my opinion, when they come from the factory that way and they're completely without any protection down there whatsoever. These rocker steps will provide protection against flying debris and rocks, whether you're traveling down a dirt or gravel road, or even the Interstate, and that's gonna provide nice protection to your rocker panels against those kind of rock chips that can become sources of corrosion further down the road. Now, Barricade calls these rocker steps. I don't want you to confuse those with rock sliders, they are not the same thing. Now, while these definitely will provide upgraded protection for your Jeep and they are certainly more robust than your average sidesteps or running boards, they will provide good protection laterally. If you go out on off-camber trails and you have a tendency to maybe slide sideways into a tree stump or other type of obstacle, these will definitely provide protection for you there. However, the brackets as you'll see in our installation hang down just a little bit. And if you're going to try and clear obstacles by going over them, you might hang up on those. So, these don't exactly function the same as rock sliders, although they are definitely an upgrade in protection for your Jeep. Now, as far as price goes, these are currently priced around $450. That doesn't make them the cheapest set of side steps out there in the market. However, if you go lower in the price range, you're gonna find that those steps are nowhere near as rugged and stout as these are. If you're looking for substantial upgrade and protection, I think these are definitely an affordable option compared to a lot more expensive side steps out there on the market. Now, as far as the installation goes, I'm giving it a very easy one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter. Nothing real challenging here. Some basic hand tools are all you're really gonna need to mount this onto your Jeep. All the hardware you need comes included in the kit, and we're gonna be utilizing factory-designed mounting points. And this will bolt directly onto your Gladiator without too much trouble. The only thing that might be a little bit of a challenge for you is if you have a lot of miles on your Jeep, and maybe you have some corrosion starting in those threaded holes on the underside of your Jeep or there's a lot of dirt and debris, you wanna make sure you clean that out thoroughly before you get started. You don't wanna cross any threads when you put the bolt up in there. That's gonna take a relatively easy installation and make it a lot more challenging. So, that said, let's take a look at the tools we're gonna use. I should say budget maybe three hours of your time at most. If you've done this kind of thing before or you're used to working with tools a lot, you should have no problem shaving a lot of time off the bat. So, let's take a look at the tools we're gonna use and go ahead with the install. All right, guys. Tools for this installation include an electric impact wrench, 10, 13, and 17-millimeter deep hole sockets, and 10 and 16-millimeter crescent wrenches. All right, guys, before we get too deep into our installation, I want to throw the brackets up here in the table to give you a closer look at them. This is the set we're gonna use for the driver's side, which is the side we're working on today. So, in order to know where these brackets go because they are specific to this particular spot where we're mounting them, they are different sizes. They are stamped with the letters DF, DC, or DR. D for driver and then you have front, center, rear. Pretty self-explanatory, and then on the other side you'll see PF, PC, and PR. But that tells you for both of these brackets, what position they go in. Now, your Gladiator comes with four factory-designed mounting points for this type of stuff. If you think of those in terms of one, two, three, and four going from the front of the truck to the back, we're going to be using spots one, two, and four. The third slot where there's a place to mount something, we're gonna leave it empty. So, the other nice thing about this installation is that it's a direct bolt-up design. So, the hardware we need is all included in the kit. And there is one mounting point, and it's for these shaped brackets here where you're gonna take a bolt and thread it directly into the bottom of your Gladiator. That is a factory-design mounting point, it's very sturdy, and it's a nice rugged aspect to this design. So, without too much more ado, let's go ahead and get this installation started. All right, guys. Now, here is the mounting point directly under the driver's seat. The furthest one towards the front. Go ahead and grab one of these hex head bolts with a lock washer and a flat washer and your DF bracket. Now I'm just snugging that up finger-tight for right now. So, we want a little bit of play in this so that when we lay the side step down on here, we will be able to adjust this as needed so that all the holes line up with our bolts.Next, go ahead and grab the other DF bracket. You're gonna have these smaller gauge hex head bolts. Grab one of those with a flat washer, thread it through the front, and a flat washer for the inside. And then you're gonna have these matching nylon lock nuts we're gonna throw in here. All right. Now, the last piece of hardware we need for a pair of brackets is get these heavier gauge hex head bolts and larger nylon lock nuts and a couple of washers. Go through this hole right here, basically securing the two brackets to each other. All right. Then we'll go ahead and repeat these same steps on down to the second and third set of brackets. And actually, before we leave the spot, we're gonna tighten up these two bolts right here. There's no real play that we have with this particular bracket, so we're gonna go ahead and tighten it up right now. We'll still leave it loose down here so we can adjust as needed. To do this, we're gonna need a 10-mil socket and a 10-mil crescent wrench.Okay. Grab your bracket labeled DC. We'll do the same thing here. And grab your T-shaped bracket. And then line one of these hex bolts with washers and a lock nut. Then we'll tighten these two down up here. All right. Now, grab your DR bracket and your hex head bolt, and your T-shaped DR bracket. All right. Now, go ahead and grab your driver's side one, it's gonna be one with the brackets more aligned towards the front of the Jeep. All right. Now that we have the rocker step resting on the brackets, go ahead and grab three of these bolt plates. We're gonna use one at each set of brackets. And you're just gonna slide in from the top and drop it in place. And you have these bolts right here, these hexagonal bolts, and it has a lock washer and a flat washer already loaded up on it. That's how you know what hardware to use for this one. Thread that up through and then a flat washer and a lock nut for the bolts. As you can see, these brackets are designed so you can adjust in and out. So, we're gonna mount all three of these bolt plates on and then we're gonna check the fitment and the alignment and decide how we want our step to set if you like it further out or if you want it tucked in a little bit more. It's up to your personal choice. So, once we get these all mounted on, we'll adjust it as we like it and then we'll tighten everything down. All right. Now, before we tighten anything down, let's check our alignment. All right. Once you have the alignment you like, go ahead and tighten these up. You're gonna need a 13-millimeter socket for both of these. For the nut, you're gonna need a 17-millimeter socket, and for the bolt head, you'll need a 16-millimeter crescent wrench. And then the one up top here that's just out of your view, use a 13-millimeter socket for that one as well. All right. Let's move forward on the Jeep. All right. Now, everything we just did here, you can repeat the exact same steps on the passenger's side of your Gladiator.Okay, guys, that wraps up this review and install of this Barricade HD Rocker Steps in Textured Black for all 2020 and later Jeep Gladiators. And of course, for all things Gladiator, keep it right here at extremeterrain.com.

Great steps for the price
I recently took off the Rubi rails that were on my Gladiator because my wife and kids needed a step to get into my truck. These steps are well built and look great. I've only had them on my truck a couple of weeks, but already they have saved my truck from rocks that have been kicked up. They were very easy to install (once the hardware is sorted), only taking about an hour for full install. These steps are great for entering the truck and make it much easier for my family and dog to get into the truck. My only complaint is that they do not mirror the rocker panel curve of the Gladiator, but they look amazing, nonetheless.

Easy enough to install
Solid product, I was able to install each side in about 30-40 minutes. They use a two bracket system for each support, but they are labeled because each side/space is different.

Must Have
Had these on my 2017 Wrangler and knew I needed them for my 2023 Gladiator. Very well built and sturdy. Great for a step platform and especially keeps the jeep from getting door dings!

Nice looking Steps
I didn't have a good experience purchasing steps from another online retailer so I sent them back and got the Barricade HD's. I was impressed with how well these were packaged (don't mind paying a little extra to ensure things arrive intact and undamaged). Let me tell you these are some heavy-duty steps (emphasis on the word 'heavy'). Removed the stock rock sliders and installed these solo in about 2 hours. Love the way they look! I suggest watching the install video - it provides some helpful tips that will definitely save you time.

Honest opinion from a Jeep enthusiast
Apologies for the longer review, but this is what I was looking for in a step: easy access into the jeep, maintain ground clearance, access to roof rack above cab, some rock protection. The Barricade HD checks all the boxes. I'm still a young guy, but my lifted jeep is a pain to get in and out of, so having a (long) step is great. I also needed something to get to my cross bars over the cab, so another plus to this step. I also wanted some rock protection realizing that a step and slider combo are few and far between, especially at an affordable price. So here's the thing, if you are a legit rock crawler hitting the trails hard and doing the Rubicon, I don't think this step will work. You can't beat the OEM Rubicon sliders which will not only protect the body panels of the jeep but will legit slide over rocks without getting caught on anything like brackets or steps. The Barricade rocker steps will still protect your jeep, but the brackets that hold up the main step panel will make it very difficult to "slide" over rocks. That being said, protection is still there and I'm confident it will take the random rock or two. For me, the benefits of a solid step and access to my roof outweighs the slider protection of the OEM sliders. And lets not forget, the price was definitely right and it was delivered in 3 days. Pretty good in my opinion.
