Jeep YJ Drivetrain for Wrangler (1987-1995)

Building the perfect off-road vehicle isn’t easy, or cheap. Most veterans spend years fine-tuning and upgrading basic hardware and components. One of the most expensive overhauls any off-roader can make is to the drivetrain. Because it includes the transmission, engine, and the wheels, the system is enormous and contains hundreds of vital parts. Of course, it is not necessary to replace all of these components in order to improve performance. But it does help to upgrade from stock parts that were not designed to handle the rigors of off-roading. At the very least, most serious off-roaders replace the drive shafts, u-joints, lockers, axels, and ring and pinion gears with models that are specifically designed for unpaved terrain.
